2024 marks 170 years since the attack by government forces on protesting miners barricaded at the Eureka Stockade.
The Eureka Stockade resides deep in the hearts of Ballarat’s people. It defines our city and the values we cherish. Eureka is also an enduring foundation story of Australian democracy. As a story of collective solidarity in the face of oppression, it continues to inspire and engage people from across all reaches of society.
At commemorative events across our community, we will honour those involved in the Eureka Rebellion. Embodying the Eureka Spirit, our city will come alive with a diverse community program of activities including talks, tours, performances and more.
