EUREKA!

In our ‘Eureka’ program, students will explore the lives and stories of the people who had a significant influence on shaping colonial Victoria and the forging of Australia’s democratic society. Students will form a meaningful connection to this historic event through assuming the voice of a key figure who was involved in the events surrounding Eureka. They will investigate the role these individuals played and understand the different values and perspectives of the people involved in Eureka and their impact on social justice and equality.

Students will work in groups of roughly 20 and rotate through a range of hands-on, guided and self-directed activities. They will view the original Eureka Flag, undertake guided research in our interactive exhibition space, unpack our handling collection of objects and participate in a workshop about Australia’s Democratic reforms.
