Eureka Sunday Community Day

Join us to mark the 169th anniversary of the Eureka Stockade at the Eureka Centre with talks, live music and creative activities for the whole family.

Eureka Stockade Commemorative Service

8am-9am

A service in will be held in the Eureka Centre auditorium to honour those who died and were involved in the 1854 Eureka Rebellion. Breakfast will be provided.

Paper Chain People

10am-12pm

Dress up your paper chain miners and soldiers using various mediums like collage and paint to recreate a scene from the Eureka Stockade.

Face Painting

10am-3pm

Our free face painter will be on site for the duration of the event.

Flag Talks (on the hour)

11am–2pm

Hear about the myths and facts of one of Australia’s most significant cultural artefacts and textile treasures, The Eureka Flag.

Difficult Objects: museums, cultural mediation and deliberative democracy

11am-12pm

With the Eureka Flag positioned as an example of a ‘difficult object’, this discussion explores new approaches to using art and museum objects in civic education. Join us and find out how you can get involved in this conversation.

Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony

12pm-12.30pm

Join us on Wadawurrung Country in the beautiful grounds of the Eureka Stockade Memorial Park to mark the 169th Anniversary of the Eureka Stockade.

Eureka Sunday Live

12.30pm-3pm

Enjoy an afternoon of free live music with Coda Chroma and Meraki Minds in the beautiful grounds of the Eureka Stockade Memorial Park. Bring your picnic blankets, camping chairs and Eureka Spirit to this special community celebration.
