To mark Ballarat Heritage Week, Eureka Centre and Ballarat Libraries present this two-hour interactive workshop with Jonathan Butler.
Once you have researched the who, what and when of your genealogy, it can be difficult to know how to begin narrating your unique story. However, family history does not need to be all about facts and dates, it can be a rich source of inspiration for creative writers.
Join author, family researcher and content-creator Jonathan Butler as he guides you through an inspiring workshop of practical research tips, writing strategies and creative thinking tools that will help you bring your ideas to life.
Jonathan Butler is an author and content creator living in Naarm/Melbourne. His debut book ‘The Boy in the Dress’ (Affirm Press, 2022) was shortlisted for The Age Book of the Year 2022 (non-fiction). Researching his ancestor’s story ignited Butler’s passion for queer history, with his writing subsequently appearing in The Guardian, ArtsHub and Meanjin magazine.
